Block Six marks the last pair of matched blocks in the Designer Duo 2018: Kaleidoscope quilt. I really love this block because it looks like it has layers. Can't you picture it made up in other fabric combinations? Oh wait--our other designers did that for you. Make sure to check in with Sarah J Maxwell, Tiffany Hayes, and Karen O'Connor to see their versions and tips for Block Six. Also, don't miss all the different versions posted by talented quilters on our Designer Duo Facebook group.
This week another question was sent my way. "Can the quilt be cut out with the Accuquilt GO! cutter?" The answer is yes. The patches for blocks 1-6 can be cut with the 8" QUBE. For the triangle units in Block Seven, the 8" Companion Set-Angles does the trick. Now, a word of caution--I did not compute the fabric yardage for the quilt with Accuquilt cutting in mind. The cutting is already very tight with very little waste. So if you choose to use your Accuquilt, puchase a little extra fabric (Fabric Essentials Boo Boo Bundles should do the trick) or add in some coordinating pieces from your stash. The "Work Ahead" 4-patches would be the perfect place to work some additional fabrics into the quilt.
Now I have a question for YOU. When you are sewing, do you engage in another activity such as watching TV, listening to music, listening to a recorded book, snacking, etc?
See you next week!
