Road to California

What a great trip we had to Road To California!  I'd been trying for four years to get into Road To California as a vendor.  Then this year, a few weeks before the show, I got a call from the show director Carolyn Reese.  Apparently a vendor was canceling and she wanted to know if I was interested in the booth.  The word "yes" immediately popped out of my mouth.

Then the scramble began.  What did we have on hand?  Were the quilts we needed for display at home or on loan to quilt shops?  What do we need printed?

Amazingly, everything came together.  We packed the truck.  Our drive from Bakersfield to Ontario in the middle of the week took over four hours because there were two accidents.  But Oliver had us leave extra early to allow for LA area traffic.  We did not want to miss our 9:00 A.M. dock time.  Fortunately, we made it on time--in fact I think we were about 20 minutes early!

I have to say that the system they've worked out at Road for unloading and set-up is slick as a whistle.  We had the truck unloaded in about 30 minutes.  Then the set-up began, and from then on, we were off and running (literally).

We had a great show.  Thanks to all of you who visited us in our booth.  And for those of you who've never been to Road To California, you must put it on your "to do" list.  The quilts in the judged show were incredible, the special exhibits were inspiring, the food was good, and the vendors were aplenty.

Hope to see you there next January.
